The Rotary Club of Mermaid Beach will be holding a Sport and Rec Youth Expo at the Mermaid Beach Bowling Club on 4 May of this year. The idea is to showcase many of the activities that are available to our Youth in this wonderful city of ours. With the upcoming Olympics in 2032, we may uncover a future Olympic champion, or alternatively it may provide new options for bored teenagers, that may otherwise be enticed into crime.
The intent of the Youth Expo is to complement the great work that is being done by many local organisations for the youth in our community already. The expo is not about providing educational or career advice, it is about showcasing fun extra -curricular activities that we are lucky to have here on the Gold Coast.
The Mermaid Beach Bowls club are supportive of the community and have offered to stage the event free of charge. Federal MP Angie Bell will be the Patron and will be providing some financial support to hold the event. State MP Ray Stevens will also be in attendance and is also providing financial support. Gold Coast Council will be the major sponsor and as such have provided a generous grant to put on the event. There will be a mega bowl comp for beginners will be held by the current world Bowls champion and his coaches.
We will provide prizes, food and soft drinks. Also on the day, Griffiths University will have an interactive robotics display and the Queensland Theatre of Puppetry will be putting on a show. Stalls and Gazebos will be set up in and around the bowls club whereby sporting groups, arts, dance, cadets, gardening and volunteer groups will be setting up stalls

The Expo will be held from 11.00 am until 3.00 pm on Saturday the 4 May 24.
Note: this is a ”not for profit” event, with absolutely no cost to participants
